Julianne Moore Goes Gray for 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay'

Julianne Moore Goes Gray for 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay'

Leading a revolution would give anyone gray hairs.

Julianne Moore is trading her luscious red locks for a silver mane for her role as Alma Coin in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay," the two-part wrap-up to the story of Katniss Everdeen and her long, hard journey to becoming Panem's salvation.

Moore joined the ensemble cast earlier this summer, taking on the part of the President of District 13 and the leader of the rebellion against President Snow and the Capitol. The third film in the "Hunger Games" series began production in Atlanta, Georgia, on Monday — and Moore was spotted on set sporting her new 'do as she was transported in her presidential chariot, er, golf cart.

Moore is joining her "Boogie Nights" and "Magnolia" co-star Philip Seymour Hoffman (who portrays political power player Plutarch Heavensbee in this fall's "Catching Fire"). While her addition made for some of the film franchise's most exciting casting news this year, it is somewhat curious that the ravishing 52-year-old beauty is playing a character the book series describes as plain.

The set pics reveal Moore following suit with the rest of the character description as she has "gray hair that falls in an unbroken sheet to her shoulders, her eyes a pale gray described by Katniss as being 'like slush that you wish would melt away.'" It's hard to tell for sure, but it looks like Moore might indeed be sporting gray contact lenses. (She has green eyes in real life.)
